A silent running genius: The EVO drive from Becker

Makes automated roller shutters run almost silently yet more flexibly than ever before

The experts from Becker-Antriebe in Hesse demonstrate how quiet automated roller shutters can be and present the results in their EVO drive generation, which can be controlled using wired buttons/switches. The name says it all: The “Evolution” ultimately builds on existing technology, while nevertheless displaying its own particular strengths. Although the EVO drive was developed based on the tried-and-tested E03 drive with its electronic end switch, the technology actually has a completely different design. This makes the series so quiet that it can now barely be heard.

Easily change the running speed

Anyone with sensitive hearing can lower the volume of the EVO even further by simply reducing the speed of the drive. This is thanks to another strength of this drive: It allows you to conveniently change the drive mode at the touch of a button to fit the installation conditions. EVO drives can effortlessly master three different drive modes – fast, slow or “ramping”. “In ramping mode, the drive starts slowly and gradually speeds up until it reaches its maximum speed. Before reaching its end position, it slows down again and gently approaches its end position”, explains Frank Haubach, Sales and Marketing Manager at Becker. Users benefit from the greatest possible flexibility offered by these setting options.

Intelligent features and easy to integrate

The EVO drive also makes it easy to set the end positions. This process can be carried out automatically and works with both flexible suspension springs and rigid wave connectors. The integrated soft stop function at the top also protects the roller shutter system and ensures that the drive can be optimally adapted to the roller shutter. Other tried-and-tested strengths of Becker: The EVO drive automatically increases the contact force when the roller shutter is fitted with anti-lifting devices. Sensitive obstacle detection when lowering and an anti-freeze mechanism at the top reliably protect the drive against damage. Furthermore, the wired EVO drive can of course be connected up to the CentralControl home automation system from Becker – or to any other home automation system – using a suitable actuator. Ultimately, the experts at Becker want to make life as easy as possible for their partners and customers and ensure that all of their solutions can be easily integrated.

Analysis and evaluation via app

This new development from Becker can be optionally equipped with a Bluetooth interface. This is for good reason because the experts at Becker have also been developing an app. It allows users to communicate really easily with the installed drive via a mobile phone and lets them switch between the different drive modes (fast, slow, or “ramping”). In “ramping” mode, the app can be used to define the ramps and activate or deactivate the anti-freeze mechanism and fly screen protection function. A special activation process ensures the required level of security. Specialists can thus keep an eye on everything – and "Evolution” continues to take its course.

Almost silent yet flexible operation: Becker has (r)evolutionised the wired automation of roller shutters with its drive.

The running speed and drive mode can be easily changed based on the current situation.
