The integrated blockage detection identifies obstacles such as frozen shutters or objects in the path and stops the drive to prevent damage. The freeze protection function prevents the shutter from sticking in the upper end position by stopping the drive just before it reaches the limit. Another innovative feature is the insect screen protection, which detects an open insect door to avoid damage.

The SMI sun protection drives also come with compelling advantages. They include blockage detection with repeated testing to reliably identify obstacles. The fabric relief function protects the material by easing tension in the upper end position. A fabric tensioning function ensures optimal tautness by moving the drive to a freely adjustable reverse position. Furthermore, the automatic fabric length compensation detects changes in the curtain length and corrects them automatically to ensure long-term, consistent operation.

The SMI ZIP drives combine similar functions with additional safety features. They include blockage detection with repeated testing and particularly sensitive obstacle detection to avoid damage. These drives also feature fabric relief and automatic length compensation, maintaining constant tension and protecting the material over time.
