IBG Ostermann Wohnbau GmbH has built a new apartment building in the heart of idyllic Friedrichshafen on the shore of Lake Constance. The building project comprised a total of 11 apartments and was completed at the end of 2023. This building located in the centre of the city fits in harmoniously with the existing, historical surroundings. Special attention was paid to the architectural design of the building: Instead of using a modern flat roof, the company chose to install a traditional and more complex mansard hipped roof to fit in with the look and feel of the surrounding buildings and give residents a good quality of life.

Good cooperation

Becker-Antriebe GmbH supplied the roller shutter drives for this project, which were installed by the local company Zeitler GmbH. Becker and Zeitler have been working together for more than 20 years. This long-term partnership is based on reliability, consideration and clear communication – values that are appreciated in equal measure by both companies.

Zeitler and IBG have also been working together for more than 20 years and have already realised more than 50 projects together. Both companies believe it is important to work with reliable partners from the local region and develop and grow these partnerships over many years.

Technical implementation

A total of 61 windows in the apartment building in Friedrichshafen were fitted with roll-formed aluminium roller shutters and drives from the EVO 20 R series from Becker. These drives stand out due to their durability, ease of use and above all quiet operation, which was a requirement for the project and will also benefit the future residents. They are so quiet thanks to the use of BLDC technology. Becker has perfected the technical characteristics of the drive so that you have to listen really closely to hear them. The drives can be set to three different drive modes. They are already much quieter than normal drives in standard mode, in which the drive starts off slowly, accelerates and then slows down again shortly before reaching its end position. In dynamic mode, the drives operate at full speed to, for example, quickly open patio doors. The quietest operation is in whisper mode and when we say quiet, we mean quiet enough for use in a child's bedroom. The drives can be operated in traditional fashion via a wired button, while an app for the Bluetooth variant offers helpful options for convenient set up.

The family-run company Zeitler GmbH, which was founded in 1957 and is now in its third generation under the management of Matthias Zeitler, is a dependable and experienced partner in the local region. A team of four employees from Zeitler demonstrated in this project that they could deliver first-class results thanks to their expertise and close cooperation with Becker and IBG. The long-standing cooperation between the companies is an indication of their high level of quality and reliability.
